Happy holidays to all of you from the city of Baltimore!
My holiday has been really fun so far. My mom let me play with the cardboard roll left over after my she used all of the wrapping paper! Mmm . . . cardboard wrapping paper roll. My mom and dad finally decorated the tree. Hmm . . . mom, I don't know about you, but Is there a huge bald spot right here?
Maybe we should hang another ornament, like a peanut butter cookie or a mini-flying squirrel. I vote for the cookies so that I can snack every time I walk by the tree! After my mom hung a new ornament to cover the bald spot, I couldn't help but notice that there were a lot of presents under the tree. I didn't think my mom would notice if a little one disappeared. So, I stole one and opened it up on Christmas Eve. And, oh my dog, it was a brand new Kong!
The only problem was that it didn't have any peanut butter or treats in it. What good is a Kong with no treats?
Mom, you can have that present back. It's a dud. Time to head to bed so that Santa can come and do his magic. I sure hope Santa gives better gifts than my mom.
My aunt Joan and uncle Mike adopted a greyhound named Eva last week from a Greyhound rescue group called Greyhound Welfare, Inc. She sure is a beauty. She grew up in a kennel down in Florida or someplace warm where they grow oranges and peaches, so this is her VERY first snow.
I guess I didn't get in touch with Mr. Heat Miser in time because . . .
the snow is already here!
It started falling at about 10:00pm last night.
I still don't like snow, but it was sort-of fun to lick snow off of the ground. By midnight, it really started to cover the ground. Maybe this Snow Miser guy really knows what he is talking about. I actually kind-of like the snow! It turned the city into a blizz-onderland. This is what it looked like when I woke up on Saturday morning. And it's still snowing!
It's going to snow, snow, snow, right here in Baltimore City.
Like I said, It's going to snow. And snow. And snow. And after that, it will probably snow even more.
I've seen snow before, and I'm pretty sure that I didn't like it. It's that white cold stuff that falls from the sky and makes my toes freeze, right Mom?
Maybe if I knew what it really is, I could figure out how to keep it away. I asked my dad because he is the math/science guy in the family. My dad started to tell me about snow, "Snow is a type of precipitation in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of . . . "
Zzzzzz...
I'd rather find out about it in a cartoonish, sing-song way. The Year Without a Santa Claus is my mom's all-time favorite Christmas movie, so she suggested that I talk to THIS guy.
Hello, Mr. Snow Miser, sir. Can you tell me about snow?
Ok, so what I learned is: snow comes from a very scary-looking man in the sky with an icicle house, an icicle chair, and creepy snow people dancing around him. And I also learned that his red-hot brother could melt the snow off his nose.
Anyone have the telephone number for this Heat Miser guy? I think I might need his services tomorrow.
Mom and Dad, this is getting ridiculous. I can't help but notice that our house is decorated with books and paper instead of trees and tinsel. Will you EVER be done with work and school?? It's almost Christmas for Dog's sake!?!?! Time to whip it into shape!
Today is a very happy day! My very first human-family cousin was adopted on Saturday!
Meet Kailey (or Haley)! My aunt Dawn and uncle Dan haven't quite decided on a forever name yet. Hopefully she doesn't compete with my cuteness at family gatherings, but even I can't deny it: she is so darn cute!
Kailey is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. She lived with another family for five years, but they gave her up because they couldn't deal with her food allergies. I don't know what "allergy" means, but my mom says that I have to be good when I'm around Kailey. I can't teach her the secret stairway to the kitchen counter (the chairs!) or my magic tricks of sit, stand, spin, and twirl to "wow" the guests into sharing their scrumptious yummies. We have to wait to see what the allergist says about what she can and can't eat. Good thing aunt Dawn knows all about food allergies; it is a match made in heaven.
My mom came across this picture and wants to know:
. . . which of these three is not like the other? My dad says that the one in the middle is the odd one out. He said that the other two keep him toasty warm during the winter: his boots when he is working outside, and me when he lounging inside the house.
The holidays are finally here, and so are the Christmas goodies!
My aunt Joan gave my mom some really good homemade cupcakes as an early Christmas present. I smelled them the minute my mom walked in the door. They smelled soo good. I bet they tasted good, too. I was absolutely sure that my mom would share with me.
I politely asked for cupcake at first, but when my mom ignored me and walked into the kitchen to put some stuff away, I climbed up onto the couch to get a better look at the cookie tin.
Mom, puh-lease can I have one?!? How could you say "no" to this face?
Brrr, it's cold outside! Winter is definitely in my top four favorite seasons. Even though it is not snowing here in Baltimore yet, it is definitely time to unpack those coats, hats, and gloves. And, I for one am a huge fan of coats! I loved my first little pink plaid coat. Look at how cute I was! And my khaki plaid helps keep me snuggly warm when I'm in the field or lounging on the couch at home. I never want to take it off.
But apparently my puppy friend Spencer who lives with my human Grandmom doesn't really like his coat.
He kept fighting with it and trying to eat it.
Now Spencer, don't be rude to your coat. Sometimes puppies need coats to keep themselves warm. I mean, don't you want to run and play outside? Coats are great for keeping you warm when it is super cold and windy. Give it a chance. Who knows, maybe your coat will become your friend for life.
