Kelty Backpack!

This morning, my mom said that we needed to stay home because we were waiting for a package from U.P.S. I love those three letters because it means that someone is bringing me a treats!!!! Plus, the UPS man is really nice to me and gives me lots of hugs and quick cuddles while my mom signs for the packages. We waited a L.O.N.G. time for him to come, and I wasn't sure if he was coming. But, as scheduled, the U.P.S. truck stopped in front of our house and a man walked to the front door with a package. But, wait! This wasn't MY UPS man?!?! Imposter! And even worse, the package he brought didn't smell like treats or presents for me at all. What an outrage!! I waited all day for him to come and he didn't even . . .

Oh, wait. Really? Is this for me? Are you sure?
I'm not sure if I trust it though. It doesn't smell like treats. Plus, an imposter dropped it off. It could be an army of gophers sneaking into my house like a trojan horse, but . . .
I am curious as to what it is . . .
My mom helped to peel away the outer layer of the package, and I found another weird package inside. It's definitely not gophers, which is a relief. But, I'm still not quite sure what it is.
I opened the rest of the package, and to my surprise it was a Backpack! Just for me!!!
Thanks, mom! I really wuff you for my new backpack!

My mom said that the backpack will help me build some extra muscle when we go on our walks and jogs. Plus, I can carry my own water and frisbee to the park! How cool is that?!?

I can't wait to try it out! But, all of the excitement has tired me out just a little.

Backyard buddies

Sometimes I smell funny things in my backyard, and
I have to climb up the tree to look into the neighbor's yard to check it out.

Sometimes I find birds;

Sometimes I only find their feathers;

Sometimes I find bread crumbs put out
for the birds by our neighbor, Miss Hilda;

and

Other times, I find . . .

Who let that wild beast out???

Ready-ing the Office

So, my parents decided that it was time to "really" set up their office on the third floor of our house. The first thing to do was to clear out all of the boxes.
Roooo . . . freedom!!! Look at all of this room!We needed to paint since the greyish-blue color that they had painted the room two years ago didn't look very good anymore. I started gathering up all of the supplies that we would need . . .
A roller and the fluffy yummy paint roll thing.
Nom-nom-nom . . . yummy fluffy roller thing . . .
My dad thought it would be fun to try and paint a portrait of me.

Ick! I think it looks more like the neighbor's cats than me.
I am very proud of our new red room. My bed fits nice and snug in the corner and looks good against the new wall color.
Now I can hang out with all of my stuffies and chewies while my parents do their boring "grad school work."

Great Paw-ty!

Yesterday was my best friend Riley's 2nd Birthday, and we celebrated with an exciting (but looong) day!

When I woke up, my mom took me for a quick park trip in the morning before she started working. She worked until about 1 o'clock when--unexpectedly--my dad came home! Yay, Dad! He didn't come home to play, though. He had a midterm exam that he had to take on his computer for his grad class. Bummer!!!! Anyway, since he needed the house to be quiet for a few hours, my mom said that we needed to go for a little trip. I like trips, so this sounded like it was going to be fun. And, it sure was!

Since it was Riley's birthday, we needed to get him a present. We went to the local dog boutique down the street (literally three blocks away! Hurray for the city!) so that we could do some shopping. The girl (she is new) working in the shop fell in love with me right away. I showed her a few of my tricks: sit, down, high-five, paw, stand, stay, wait, up on hind legs, and my latest trick: twirl. I rocked my performance, and she gave me a treat. Score for me! My mom and I started shopping; I know that we were supposed to be shopping for Riley, but I just can't help myself sometimes, so I started picking out things that would be perfect for me: a new set of tennis balls, another Kong frisbee. My mom was not happy, so she put everything back and told me that we had to leave because I couldn't behave. We took a few laps around the block. After I had calmed down and was listening, we went back to the store. I was much more behaved the second time! Anyway, we bought a ChuckIt Flying Squirrel for Riley and a dog birthday cake. I thought it would have pictures of dogs on it, but it didn't. Apparently, there are people who make special cakes for dogs! What a great idea!

After we brought our loot back to the house, my mom said that it was time to go to the park, so we got our park gear ready: baggies, two balls, my Kong frisbee, water, a towel to wipe off slobber. After we put everything in my mom's nifty Outer Hound bag, my mom grabbed an extra set of keys. Hmmm . . . those keys look familiar. When we got out of the house, we started walking in the OPPOSITE direction of the park--to Riley's house! Wahooo!!!

When Riley and I got to the park, my mom took us to the lower field so that we could run without bothering the many moms pushing their babies in strollers. We found a nearly-dead kickball that someone had left on the field; it was the best toy we've played with in a long time. We ran, and ran, and chased, and wrestled, and ran, and ran, and ran. When we slowed down and started to eat sticks, my mom said it was time to head home. But, on the way out of the park, we spotted my good friend Kelsey! My mom let us off-leash again so that we could play with Kelsey. So, we ran, and ran, and chased, and wrestled, and ran, and ran. When my mom was sure that we were tired, we said goodbye to Kelsey and started heading home again. But then we ran into another dog friend who was hanging out with Fat Louie (a really, really, really fat black lab). I'm not a big fan of Fat Louie, but we started to play, so my mom let us off-leash AGAIN! And, again, we ran, and ran, and chased, and wrestled, and ran. I even caught the tail of a squirrel!!!! Riley and I could have played all day, but when Fat Louie started getting a little "frisky," my mom said it was time to head home--for real this time. She said that two-and-a-half hours was our cap for the day.

When my mom put on our leads, she realized that we had rolled in something deliciously stinky. So stinky that my mom had to put her nose under her shirt to breathe. I honestly don't know what her problem is; it's just perfume! Anyway, as soon as we got back to my house, my mom let us use the bathroom and drink some water in the backyard. But when we were done, we were marched right upstairs to get baths. Luckily for my mom, we were both exhausted and could barely move. Riley was first, and I was second. Riley was such a good boyfriend, and licked my head while my mom gave me my bath. I really wuff him.

After drying us off, my mom took Riley home to his house. He needed to have a nap before his big birthday party.

A few hours later, it was time for Riley's party. So many people came! There was tons of human food: beer, crackers, fruit, cheese, and brownies. There was also tons of dog treats too! Riley's aunt Kelly brought a dog biscuit in the shape of a martini, and I will never forget the heavenly, heavenly dog cake . . .
It was a big biscuit covered in frosting. Yummy!

To celebrate, we had candles, fun party hats, and sang happy birthday to Riley. Since Riley was the birthday boy, he has a green ribbon around his neck. The anticipation of the cake was almost more than Riley and I could stand! After cake, it was time for presents!
Finally, after two-and-a-half hours at the park, one bath, a two-and-a-half hour birthday party, eating half of a cake, and wrestling with Riley, it was time for bed. I was one exhausted Vizsla!
And I've been sleeping ever since . . .

Finally home

My mom and dad picked me up from the conformation show at the York, PA Fairgrounds this morning. I didn't win today either, but everyone was very impressed by my much-improved standing and stacking abilities. Score for me! I was absolutely exhausted from all of the wrestling, playing, and park visits, and slept in my mom's arms the entire way home. Good thing I rested up because I got to have a play date with my boyfriend Riley as soon as I got home. He had really missed me while I was on my vacation, so his humans took me to the park for an hour and a half, invited me to stay at their house for a while (my mom had a migraine again), and took me on a two mile run down to the Inner Harbor. Six hours later, I finally came home--exhausted and happy! Best weekend ever. Zzzzzzz...

No ribbons, but fun nonetheless

Today was my first conformation show in a long time. Miss Melissa wasn't sure how I'd do in the ring, so we did a lot of practicing beforehand. She said that I did an "ok" job, but that I was a much better "sitter" than "stander." Whoops! Gotta get my mom and dad back to the basics! Even though I didn't get an A+ for my performance today, I've been having a fantastic time with my V-Family. We go for runs and walks, play frisbee, and do some serious napping. I really love cuddling with Jason. Maybe I can bring him with me when I go home on Sunday? I'll talk more later, but I gotta get some more Zzzz's before we go to the park.

Wuff, Laila

A very traumatic thing happened the other day. Don't panic; I'm ok.

I have no idea how it happened. I was just playing with him when--all of a sudden--his squeaky part popped out with some of his internal fluffiness. I was so upset that I ran to my mom and wouldn't leave her side until she found my poor bunny. I didn't mean to hurt him! His squeaky made me do it.

Family Vacation

I'm on vacation right now, and I couldn't be happier! I'm going to a conformation show this weekend (my first in a long time), so I'm visiting my Vizsla family to get ready to strut my stuff. My mom and dad dropped me off at Aunt Debbie's house last night . I was so excited to see Aunt Debbie and the rest of the Tivoliz clan: Jaeger, my grandmom Siren, and my daddy Owe'n (Harlow was on vacation); my half-siblings Henna and McCoy were there too! Paw-ty!!! While I played, Siren and Owe'n flirted with my mom and dad. My dad Owe'n gave his signature lip nibbles, and my grandmom Siren gave kisses after kisses after kisses to my mom. She loved it! My mom said that my grandmom gives the same types of lip and nose kisses that I give, so I guess it runs in the family.

Anyway, Aunt Debbie said that she is going to take me to visit Aunt Melissa so that I can get ready for my show. I'm really excited to see Melissa, Jason, my mom Kayla, and my aunt Hannah! I haven't seen them in f.o.r.e.v.e.r.! I am looking forward to playing ChuckIt! Flying Squirrel with Hannah and cuddling with Melissa. Oh, and of course I'm excited about the show too. Aunt Debbie said I was a little pudgy (how rude!!!), so I just hope that I don't have to go through Aunt Melissa's fat-camp during my visit. I'll check in to let you know how everything is going.

Wuff,
Laila

Awwww . . . Moment

Q's puppies are so darn cute!!!!

Grad School

I like helping my mom and dad with their work on the computer. I mean, I'm a much better typer than they are, and I know how to add. Watch this: One squirrel + two squirrels = the best day ever! My dad would say that it means three squirrels, but he doesn't see the bigger picture here! If it was one squirrel, he'd be on the lookout and run before I even get close. If it was two, they'd be a little skittish and split up if they got scared; but three squirrels is the best because they get confused and don't know where to run, so I get a better shot of catching one (not that I've actually caught one yet, but that is beside the point).

In addition to my good computer skilz (I wrote it as "skilz" instead of "skills" because that is how to cool kids write it, and I'm all about being cool), I am good at helping them eat snacks during their study breaks. Sometimes they forget to take study breaks though, which is a terrible thing to do. When they do this, I have to remind them to take their break so that they can spend some good quality time with me... a trip to the park, perhaps?

This is an example of my classic "head on the desk" move.
